Happy Sunday

Happy Sunday lovely readers. I know it has been a while since I have been here again. I promise I will try and make it a more regular activity.

Not a lot has been happening here. Emma has been visiting her cousins in Tea Gardens NSW for the past 4 days and was none too happy that she had to come home today. She is supposed to go to school tomorrow but they are having the swimming carnival and she cannot compete as she is not allowed to go in public pools. Too much of a risk of catching cooties. She is currently sitting at the kitchen table getting all her homework completed.

It has finally stopped raining so the weekend has been spent doing all the outside jobs. Luckily that does not involve me. The boys job not mine.

have been doing loads of scrapping but yet again not much to show. You can have a little sneak peek of the class that I will be teaching at Kaisercraft Robina next Saturday (11th) This is a double page layout and only costs $25.00 for class and full kit.

Here is a layout that I finally put together using Emma's creepy photos. I love hoe it turned out but can understand that it is not something that everyone would like.

I used my new silhouette cameo to cut out the old house, pretty cool eh! I was going to post another layout here but it was picked up for publication on Friday so you will be able to see it in an upcoming edition of Scrapbooking Memories

This was the little birdie cage that I made for the Kaisercraft blog. It is so cute IRL.

Anyway had better go and get the washing finished or the rug rats wont have any uniforms for tomorrow. Emma's skirts need to be taken up but I made a real mess of the first one so am taking the second one to the seamstress. So much easier that way.

Aussie Day

So how did everyone spend their Australia Day.....?

For us it was nothing special at all as the weather was dismal and raining all the time. Stuart ended up studying and the kids and I watched a few movies.

Below are a couple of things that have recently appeared on the Kaisercraft Blog. Hope you enjoy

Did have a layout to share with you all but one of the magazines picked it up straight away so alas you will have to wait. Have had two magazine acceptances in as many weeks.

My best friends husband sadly left this world on Friday. He was such an incredible, beautiful, amazing man and he will be missed dearly. RIP Barry, your pain has now been taken away and you can be free. His funeral will be on Friday, such a sad sad occassion for all.

Well I have not got a lot to say today. Just wanted to pop in with a quick update.

Emma starts her first day at High School tomorrow, I am so anxious for her but she is so excited to be going back to school to see all her friends.

Will post photos of her in her high school uniform soon.

Hi guys,
Firstly the good news............

Emma's MRI and CT scans have come back clear which means that there is no cancer showing on them. This is a small celebration for us but we will be more excited once she has finished her chemo and those scans show the all clear. At least this is a positive step in the right direction for us - FINALLY

Ok now for the second item on my agenda........

A new challenge site has just started and really it couldn't be any easier to enter. All you have to do is email your favourite layout every month. Now how easy is that!!!!!

Shock Horror, I have scrapped

Yes I know that I scrap all the time but this is the first time that I have scrapped using something other than Kaisercraft in such a long time. I fell in love with these papers and knew that I would have to use bright summery photos with them.

There seem to be the odd people or one person who seem to think that I whinge about having to go to Brisbane etc with Emma for her treatments. Well let me just say this

1.   At no point do I ever whinge about having to take Emma to her appointments.
2.   I would travel to the ends of the world if it meant that Emma would get well.
Finally if you haven't got the balls to comment and let me know your feelings then you shouldn't be reading my blog.   DONT visit my blog and don't ever speak to me should you walk past me in the street.

Ok for all the rest of my lovely readers I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your support and beautiful thoughts. You are all such wonderful people and Emma and I are lucky to have you all in our lives.

Christmas & New Year 2011

Well another Christmas is done and dusted. I cannot believe how quick the holiday season goes. It seems the older you get the quicker time goes.

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas with loads of love and happiness. We stayed over at Stuarts parents place Christmas eve with 13 others. It was lovely to wake up Christmas morning with all the children. All incredibly excited that Santa had come through the night.

There was a bad bug going around unfortunately and most of the family ended up having gastro. My mother in law and sister in law did not really enjoy chrissy day as they were so very sick.
Christmas lunch was at our house this year. There were 21 of us in total and it was fantastic. Mum was up here from Tasmania so both my family and Stuart's family celebrated the day together. We feasted on baked fish, prawns, turkey, ham and all the other usual Christmas goodies. Everyone chipped in to help once we had finished so that was great as there were so many things to clean up.

Emma and Brittany (my niece) ended the day for us with a dance that they had made up during the week. They found these two matching dresses in the dollar shop and decorated them just for the dance. My brother stood behind them for the lift (just in case) but they didn't need any help what so ever. Am so proud of my beautiful girls.

New Years Eve ended up being very quiet for us as Emma was not feeling well so we didn't go out anywhere. I did however manage to stay up until midnight which is a bit of an accomplishment for me. I think it was the first new year I have seen in since 5 years ago.... Bit of a slacker I am.

We had some friends down from Darwin on the 2nd so we decided to have our NY celebration then. It was a funny night and there was plenty of laughter to be had.

I also managed to catch up with my oldest friend for a while. It was great to see her as she only just got engaged at Christmas time. Am so happy for both Kim and Terry.

The first week of January also saw the celebration of Emma's 12th birthday. As a little gift we decided to take the two children up to the Sunshine Coast for three nights away. We stayed in the most amazing place - Rumba Resort in Caloundra and had an absolute ball. There was heaps of swimming, walking, swimming, beach cricket, cocktails and mocktails by the pool and then a little more swimming. Emma was not feeling well on her actual birthday so we had a nice dinner and cake the following day.

Well that pretty much sums up our Christmas and New Year break. Everyone is back at work now. Jacob and Emma return to school at the end of January which means I had better go and get their uniforms. They both need new ones this year and Emma is moving up into high school and Jacob is going into year 10 which means he needs to wear a senior uniform. Emma has her next round of chemotheraphy on the 18th of this month. Stuart is taking her up this time and I am having a night off. She has her MRI and CT scans this coming Wednesday so hopefully that will show us that the chemo is doing its job. Praying that is the case anyway

Before I go I need to tell you something really exciting......... I received an email yesterday afternoon offering me a position on the Design Team for Scrap Sanity. YAH ME...... Am so very excited to be working with Tiff. I think we are going to have a ball.

Ok I am out of here. Have loads and loads of creating to do for Kaisercraft. The next few releases from them are divine.

How excited was I when I received the Scrapbooking Memories magazine in the mail this week. Opened it and found that one of my layouts for the Masters Competition made an honorable mention. YAH so stoked.

Cannot believe that there are only two more sleeps until Christmas. It is getting very exciting. I loveChristmas Day and this one is going to be fantastic as there will be 22 people at our place for lunch. All family. We have been busy preparing and getting things ready for the big day. Lucky our family room is big enough that we can cater for that many people. Our two tables joined only sat 18 so I ended up having to bring in the camping table for 4 of the children. This is what our table will look like once I have finished..........................

Not long now until the jolly old man in the red suit comes for a visit. The children are excited as we get to share the holiday festivities with their cousins... We are all staying at the in laws on Christmas Eve (17 at last count) Should be a fun evening and Christmas Day.

It has finished

Radiation therapy has officially finished - Thank goodness. Emma has been so very brave and taken each day as it comes. I am so proud of my little baby girl.

We had a lovely surprise this week. A beautiful young girl from Victoria (Kiera) took it upon herself to do some fundraising with the help of her generous school for our little Miss and for that we are forever grateful. When Emma is well enough we are planning to take off for a weekend at a nice 5 star resort somewhere. Ahhhhh would love to be a week or two away but that isn't going to be happening for a long while. We will just have to wait for Emma's Make a Wish holiday next year.

Now onto some scrapping, I don't know how or where I have been finding the time to scrap but I promised myself that I would not let Kaisercraft down so scrapping I have been doing LOL. There have been some amazing ranges released this year and these two promise not to disappoint. You are going to LOVE the next ones as well. I am lucky enough to get sneak peaks heheheheheh.

The above layouts and projects are what have appeared on the Kaisercraft blog, the following project was one of my classes at Kaisercraft Robina.

Make sure if you are on the Coast to book in and come create some cards with me. I just love the "Silly Season" range, it is so cute, bright and funky.......

Well there you have it, my shares. Emma and I are heading off to Brisbane tomorrow to begin her chemotherapy again. We only have to stay the night so that is all good. The next two are able to be given down here on the Coast which is a bonus. Basically we only have to stay in hospital once every three weeks when she has her big chemo. Am so looking forward to the day that we can finally say goodbye to weekly treatments. I will keep praying for total healing of my little princess....

Yah so excited

As of Monday Emma will have completed her radiation. YAH
She will recommence her chemotherapy on Monday 28th for 35 weeks. We are both so very happy to be going home. 5 weeks away is not nice although we were home for the odd weekend it was just not the same.

We are heading home tomorrow for the night as she has her year 6 presentation night at school and she does not want to miss it. She even got permission to have her nasal gastric tube removed so that she will look semi normal.

Any way I have to go as I am busy packing and cleaning.

Been a long time.....

Wow just realised how long it has been since I updated my blog - sorry. We have been very busy with Miss Emma. Her oncologist has put a hold on her chemo while she undergoes radiation as her body is not coping with both treatments at the one time. We only have three more weeks of radiation which is fantabulous.

I have been trying to squeeze in as much scrapping as possible as that is my escape. I am totally in love with the November releaes from Kaisercraft. So very beautiful and great for those vintage style photos you have lying around.

Ok this is only a very quick update to let you all know how Emma is doing.

Kaisercraft Shares

Hi guys
Well after a long 9 days in hospital we are finally home for the weekend. Emma is still feeling not the best but she sure was glad to be home for a couple of days. She is now on nasal gastric feeding which is a big pain but it is stopping her from losing weight and that is the main concern. We head back up on Monday for her chemo (which includes a nights stay) and her radiation therapy. She did not have radiation last week as she was in too much pain.

So now for the kaisercraft shares. This month saw the release of Bonjour and 13th Hour. Two awesome ranges with loads of possibilities. I had fun creating with these. The Bonjour range is just so beautiful and I am looking forward to creating more with it.

You guys are going to love November's releases. Just adorable.

Emma Update

Today is day 6 in hospital due to acute mouth ulcers. She is finally starting to pick up though so we are hoping that we are able to go home on Thursday. I know how painful it can be with just one small ulcer on my tongue but Emma's had them everywhere and they were huge!!!! The doctors have put her on an incredibly strong pain killer which keeps her pretty dopey all day and night. They have stopped her radiation therapy for this week and will resume it again next Monday. I am so looking forward to getting home in my own bed. I haven't slept under the same roof as my husband for almost two weeks now :-( It is ok as in the grand scheme of things 40 weeks is really just a drop in the ocean.

Ok I will be back sometime on the weekend to share my Kaisercraft creations with you all.

Hi guys

Just having a quick break from the hospital so thought I would post a long overdue post.

Emma has been doing ok, she is struggling at the moment with severe mouth ulcers from the chemotherapy and her tongue is that sore and swollen that she cannot talk. The radiation is going well although that is also making her mouth very sore. I think we are all going to be so happy when this ordeal is well behind us. My usual chirpy little munchkin is now so depressed and miserable. I am hoping that they can fix her soon so that she is semi happy again.

I have been keeping up with my scrapping as much as possible. Emma wanted me to make her a book about her journey so far but I haven't been able to tackle that one yet. I just don't want to have to relive it all again. I guess once things have settled down a bit I will be able to do it. Luckily I have documented most of it here on my blog.

I have still be teaching classes at Kaisercraft Robina on Saturday mornings. It is my much needed break and I really enjoy it. I have included the last two things I taught for you to see. This Saturday we will be making a 12 x 12 layout and card using velvet ensemble. The class cost is $20 and includes everything you need to complete your projects. If you wish to come along then give the store a call on (07) 5580 9939.

I wanted to show you the other project we made too but I cannot find a full picture of it. Above is the letter rack that we made last week. This girls finished products were fantabulous.

Chemo & Radiation Therapy & Classes :-)

Well on Monday Emma started her radiation therapy and so far she is doing a great job. I would love to say the same thing about her chemo but she is struggling at the moment. We were meant to stay in overnight on Monday while she had her chemotherapy but we are still there. She started to get fevers on Monday night and she just didn't pick up. They decided to put her on IV antibiotics and see how she went with that. Today she has been fever free (Praise God) so hopefully if all goes well we should be out tomorrow. She is so miserable and grumpy. I hope it is not going to be like this for the whole 40 weeks as I think I will be a nervous wreck by the end.

I have been busy trying to get my scrapping done when I get a spare minute or two........(not many of those at the moment) I have a wonderful class happening on Saturday morning at Kaisercraft Robina. The cost is $30 with everything supplied. Sneak peaks below.......

Stuff

Wow I haven't posted for so long and I apologise for that. Emma had her first chemo yesterday and it went reasonably well. Her port was very tender as she only had it inserted on Thursday so she was not too keen on having it needled. She needed to have fluids run through for three hours before her chemo and then 18 hours after. She woke a few times last night feeling sick but all in all it went really well.

Now onto the scrapping, I have a few layouts to share with you from Kaisercraft. I am also now teaching at Kaisercraft Outlet - Robina Saturday mornings from 10 - 12.

I love these two Christmas ranges and they are both so very versatile. I have loads more to share with you but you will have to wait.

Spindle Cell Rhabdomyosarcoma

We finally got confirmation that it is definitely a Rhabdo. Emma goes back in to surgery on Thursday to have her port o cath re inserted and then on Friday she gets her mask made for her radiation therapy. She is to have 40 weeks of chemotherapy and in week 4 she will start her 6 weeks of radiation therapy. It is going to be a long few months for the poor little munchkin but she is strong and will come out the other end even stronger.

We have had to cancel the trip to Disneyland obviously but we will go next year once she has completed all of her treatment.

Stuart has taken her down to Tea Gardens for a visit to see her cousins. She has been nagging to go down there for ages so he has finally taken her. She is going to have a ball.

Ok, I will be back with some scrapping shares in the next week. Been flat out getting all my Kaisercraft creations completed. Let me just say that you are going to love the next few ranges being released. Mmmmmm they are divine. Scrapping has become my time out from family issues and boy oh boy does it help. Emma has asked me to do a book for her about her tumour and all the stuff that she has gone through these past 14 months. That is going to be hard to create.........

I also want to say a big thank you to everyone for your comments. It makes me feel so happy and blessed to have so many people pulling for us during this difficult time.

It is Cancer

Emma's biopsy has come back from her latest surgery showing sarcoma (cancer)
They are not sure but are thinking that it may be Rhabdomyosarcoma........ This now means more chemotherapy and radiation therapy. She is not a happy little camper at the moment but then neither are any of us.

I will be back this afternoon to share with you my latest Kaisercraft creations.

Just popping in to let you all know that Emma is doing really well. She got her tracheostomy out today which is great as she can speak again (don't know if that is a good thing or not lol) If all goes well we should be out either Sunday or Monday. They really take great care of you up here at the Royal Children's Hospital but it is always nice to get back home again.

Quick update

Emma went into surgery on Thursday the 18th and although they told us it would only take between 4 - 6 hours she was in there for 9.... 9 incredibly long hours. They had to remove her cheek bone and the knuckle of the jaw. The cheek has been plated and they have taken some fat from her tummy to build up her face a little. They also went back in through the top and they also had to extend the cut so it now goes from the bottom of her ear to almost the top of her head. She did really well.

Today is day 4 and she has been doing a brilliant job. She is still in ICU but is hopefully being moved to a different ward this afternoon. We had her sitting in a chair this afternoon which was a major step forward. Had to take her off the opiates as they were making her really sick so she is now just receiving panadol and nurofen. Cannot believe how amazing this little chickadee has been. I am so very proud of her strength. She is just a little trouper.

Anyway I have to get back to the hospital so good bye for now and keep praying....

More Surgery

Was hoping that I wouldn't have to be writing this again but our little munchkin needs to go in for another big operation as the tumour has returned. The surgery will be exactly the same as the one in Spetember last year so in other words it is another biggie. She is scheduled to go in about 9am Thursday morning. I don't know how often I will be here on my blog but will try and get back after surgery to update you all.

AWOL

Sorry I have been AWOL.......

Have been flat out scrapping all my Kaiserstuff for their blog and working again.

Don't really know how much I will be around for the next couple of months as Emma's Tumour has come back. She told us yesterday that she felt a lump on the side of her face so this morning we rang her oncologist who then spoke to her surgeon and before we knew it we were driving up to Brisbane for an MRI.

We have an appointment with her surgeon on Monday who is looking at going back in to see if he can try and remove it again and then the next step will be to hit it incredibly hard with ratiation therapy. It is such a struggle but I know that we will get there in the end.

Anyway I will be back here soon to show you my Kaisercraft creations. Until then I hope you all stay safe and healthy

Monday saw Stuart take Emma up to see the Oncologist and get the results of her latest MRI, the one that was done after her chemotherapy was complete. The results show that there has been some shrinkage but that the tumour is still there. Dr Nicholls could not be sure if it was still active or just a bunch of dead tumour cells. I guess I was hoping for some closure but alas that was not to be. Emma will now be on medication for 12 months in the hope that it will destroy the remaining tumour and stop it from growing. We will be having MRI's each three months for the first year and I guess just wait and see what happens. We are all praying that is just stays as it is forever. Radiation is an option but just not yet.

There is more surgery planned in the next couple of weeks to remove her port o cath and also to remove the plates from her face. This will be easy surgery and requires only one night in hospital. Hopefully then everything will go smoothly for her. All she wants is to be normal again just like everyone else.

I must say that she is soo excited about the upcoming trip to America. She is madly trying to save all her pennies so she can have some spending money.

Ok have loads of stuff to create today so had better get going and get it done.

We are over there for 7 nights and our days are filled to the brim with activities which have been organised by the foundation. We are so very blessed to be able to do this although Emma had t go through a really shitty year to get here and it still isn't over for her yet.

I just love the Blae & Ivy range of papers and have had such fun playing and creating with them. I have made these two simply yet beautiful cards to share with you.

What a week

Chemo has finished!!!!

After a traumatic week (Emma had bad time with last chemo) we have finally finished Emma's chemotherapy. It has been a long year but thankfully that part is over. We have an appointment with her oncologist in three weeks where we will have her MRI and get the results. We have no idea what the next step is so we just have to wait and be patient..... Not one of my stronger points that is for sure.

She will be having surgery in the next month or so to remove the plates from her jaw and also for the removal of her port, all her dental work will be done further down the track.

Emma and her cousin have been busy organising Emma's "I've finished Chemo" party. So sweet and it gives Emma something else to focus on for the next month. They have it all planned and have even asked me to but a long red carpet. They are hosting a Miss Universe style party...... Can't wait to get photos...

I have not got anything to share with you at the moment as I have been super busy scrapping all my yummy Kaisercraft goodies and also making some yummy things for Mad about Scrappin. As soon as I can then I will show you all. I can however show you the two ranges that I have been lucky enough to play with

Great ranges and so easy to work with. I especially love the colours in Blae & Ivy. So fresh.

I also wanted to share with you my scrapping space. Nothing flash but it is my little haven.

This is my cluttered little room. It is small but serves it's purpose well.

Busy

Have been so busy lately but seem to have nothing to show for it. Work is getting busier so I find myself down there a lot more except when Emma is unwell and then we are just here at home. I cannot believe how quickly her next lot of chemo has come around. We head to Brisbane on Tuesday and will get home Friday or Saturday depending on how she is feeling. This will be her last cycle of chemo. Don't know what the next step is but will find out on Tuesday.

I have loads of scrapping to share with you but it is for either Mad about Scrappin or Kaisercraft so unfortunately I am unable to share with you at this point.

Took Emma to her first ever concert on Tuesday night. We went to Miley Cyrus and it was fantastic..... Emma could not wipe the smile off her face for the entire night and the following day. I was broke though by the end of it as she wanted a tshirt, poster, book and then a lanyard eek - the prices they charge are disgusting.

Anyway I still have loads to get finished before we head up on Tuesday so I should probably get back to it. I hope this post finds you all happy and healthy.

Kaisercraft Retreat

Well this weekend saw the inaugural retreat fro Kaisercraft Robina. I only went out for the Saturday night as I was teaching two classes the next morning. Can I just say that I am so sore from laughing so hard. I just cannot believe how hilarious they all were, especially a certain Bev Watt........ Don't ever change Bev as you are just a legend as you are LOL.

I took my camera but oops I forgot the battery (snigger) so therefore I have no photos. I do believe that there will be some on facebook soon so I will have to pop over there and borrow them for my blog.

I am so tired tonight though as it was reasonably late by the time we got to sleep last night and then the silly fire alarm went off this morning at some un Godly hour this morning.... What a wake up, went to get out of the bunk and kinda missed the second step (silly me)

Anyway will go now but as soon as I get my hands on some of the photos then I will post them for you to all have a little giggly. Oh before I go I did manage to get two layouts done but they are for Mad about
scrappin (DT) so I cannot share with you yet.....

I am off to bed now for a decent sleep

Been a bit of a slacker

Just noticed how long it was since I had blogged.... oops but I have been super busy.

Am heading off to Tamborine Mountain tonight to join with the girls on the first Kaisercraft Robina retreat. Am teaching two classes tomorrow so that should be fun. I had to go out and buy myself a jacket though as apparently it is incredibly cold... I don't mind being cold just not freezing cold. I have packed my heater also lol.....

Not a lot has been happening here, Emma is excited as Tuesday night she gets to go and see Miley Cyrus in concert - Yah. Should be a fun night. She then has to go up to Brisbane to see her specialist on Thursday and then the following Tuesday we are back up there for her final round of chemo - double YAH. We still don't know what the next step will be but hopefully it will be easier than the chemo.

Ok well I still have loads of housework to do before I head off up the mountain so should probably go and do it.

Busy Weekend and Layouts

Wow, what a busy weekend........

Val and I headed up to Brisbane on Friday afternoon for the papercraft convention. We stayed at a lovely little place called Riverside Hotel. Although the rooms were slightly small and the lighting not that good, they were very clean and tidy, the staff were fabulous and the food in the restaurant was AMAZING.

Once we had settled into our room and had a cup of tea, we decided to venture out and head on down to Southbank. I thought when I booked the accommodation that we would have to drive to the convention centre and the parklands but we found out that we were barely a five minute walk away (yah). We took in the Friday night markets, walked around stopped for coffee and just chatted for about an hour and a half when we then decided to head back to the room and get ready for dinner.

Dinner was FANTASTIC....... I could not believe how fabulous the meal was. Yummo, we have agreed that we will definately be going back there next year. Oh yeah - it was also very reasonably priced and the underground car parking was free.

Ok well onto the convention, got there early on the Saturday morning which was good as the line up was miles long and it seemed to take forever to get in. I really got annoyed at all the little ladies who decided that it would be easier to go up the front and push in, grrrrr why can't they wait like everyone else has to.
Was slightly disappointed once we walked around as there appeared to be a few stores missing, well actually more than just a few. There were not many stores but loads more people..... I still managed to make a bit of a dent in my credit card.

I would love to show you some snap shots of what I made in my first two classes but the truth is the dog ate them.........

Ok ok I will tell you the truth, I haven't finished them!!!!!!! I will get them finished eventually, maybe once I finish the stuff from the convention last year then I can make a start on the stuff from this year.......

Saturday night saw Val and I head on out to dinner with Cindy, Karen, Kylie, Tanya P and heaps of other lovely ladies oh and a couple of gentlemen as well. We went to a Mediterranean restaurant in southbank and it was delicious. Didn't stay out too late but late enough to make me tired the next day. ugh!!!

I can share with you the three awesome layouts that I created in the talented Melissa Kennedy's class on the Sunday morning using the "Chapter One" collection (yah one of my favs).

The following two layouts and beyond the page item were the items I created for the Kaisercraft DT final round. I am still pinching myself and giggling every time I think about making it through.

Anyway guys, all in all Val and I had a great time at the convention. I was in bed by 8pm Sunday night though as I was just plum tuckered out.

We had a public holiday here in Australia today which allowed me the opportunity to complete some chores that I had needed to get done. Am off to work tomorrow for a few hours.

FINALLY!!!!!!!

Well I did it! I managed to get myself on the Kaisercraft Design Team for 2011-2012 - YAH ME!!!!!!!!! Here is a snippet of the letter that I received a few days ago. Boy oh boy it has been so very difficult trying to keep the news in. I have been wanting to tell everyone but couldn't.

The team at Kaisercraft absolutely loved your application - so much so we'd love you to be a part of our team!

Congratulations on being selected to be a member of Kaisercraft’s Contributing Design Team 2011 – 2012 !!!!

Now we know this is HUGE news, however, we’d love it if you could not tell anyone (other than CLOSE family members) as we will not be announcing the successful Design Team members until Friday the 10th on the Kaisercraft blog

Can you imagine not being able to tell anyone when all you want to do is shout it from the rooftops........ Hard I tell you.

Well that is all I have to say today. Val and I are heading off to Brisbane this afternoon for the papercraft convention yippee yi yo and away we go.........

Ok I know that I said I would post this piccie two days ago but with all that happens in our little household I completely forgot, oopsie.

I did this layout using the Kaisercraft Chapter One range of papers, mmmm divine aren't they....

Class we did with Lynette Carrol using the Kaisercraft frame. I just need to finish it but I couldn't wait and just had to share it with you.

Cannot believe that there are only 3 more sleeps until they announce the new Kaiser DT, I really really really hope I am one of the lucky 12 but if not then I will try again next year and the year after etc, you get the idea.

I also cannot believe that the papercraft convention has come around so fast either. Val and I are doing our usual yearly pilgrimage and staying up there for the Friday and Saturday night. Next year I think that we should stay for the 3 nights. It is so much fun and I love going to the classes and learning new stuff. This year I am doing "Chapter One, Two Three" with Melissa Kennedy using (yep you guessed it, Chapter one papers), "Patchwork Pieces" from Paris with Jane Tregenza and finally "Just You" also with Jane Tregenza. If there are vacancies in any of the other classes then I may just do another, if not the I guess I will have no other option but to shop...... Cannot waste time sitting around doing nothing when there is shopping to be done.

I hope I run in to loads of friends and if you are going then call me and maybe we can catch up for a coffee and chat. If you don't have my phone number then email me and I will give it to you.

DT Goodies

I guess it comes as no secret that I am kinda partial to Kaisercraft products. Well imagine my delight when my DT kit arrived from Mad about Scrappin filled to the brim with yummy Kaiser goodies - YAH.

I have been scrapping all afternoon and have only just completed one layout. Decided to give 12 x 12 a go again. Found it a little difficult but am very happy with how it turned out. I will post a piccie tomorrow but I used the Kaisercraft "Chapter One Collection". That and the new "Velvet Ensemble" would have to be my all time faves at the moment although on saying that I am sure it will change, usually does.

Emma has been fantastic and very chirpy today so I am sending her to school tomorrow. If she needs me to pick her up early then so be it. She is so much better being at school than sitting around the house feeling sorry for herself.

Well not much else to tell. Will post a few piccies tomorrow.

All good on the home front. Emma is glad to be home from chemo. She will be a bit ill for the next couple of days but should be back at school by Wednesday.

Emma had a good night, she slept well which was great but then when we got to the hospital this morning for her chemo she got a nurse she didn't know and got sad. She started crying and said that she didn't want any more chemo so this nurse stormed off and said "fine, you can stay here all day then" She was so horrible and that made Emma feel even worse. If you are not kind and compassionate then for goodness sake do not work with children in a cancer ward. These children are going through enough and the last thing they need is a sad old lady nursing them........ I spoke to the ladies at the reception and they promptly got us a lovely nurse who was caring and spoke to Emma is a supporting way. I can't believe how horrible this visit has been for us. Poor Emma is beside herself and feeling so sick this time. Only one more cycle to go, that is what I keep reminding myself and Emma.

Thank you so very much for your beautiful comments yesterday. It is so comforting knowing that there are people out there thinking of and praying for us.

Emotional Day

Wow today sure has been a hard one for this ole mumma.

Emma had an emotional breakdown when we got to the hospital and refused to let any of the nurses go near her. She needed to have her port needled up and bloods taken but that wasn't going to happen was it. She was so distressed and very upset. Broke my heart when she said that she had had enough and just couldn't do this any more. She had me in tears in the end but luckily there was an awesome nurse there that has this way with children. Thank goodness she finally got it done and the chemo was able to go ahead. Her echo results were good too. The Oncologist is not sure if he will do the fifth cycle and we won't find out until next month when she has her next echo. I cannot wait for all of this to be over as it is so hard, especially on my sweet little munchkin.

Sorry for the morbid post but I just had to rant.

Changed again

Yep, once again I have changed the look of my blog. Is it just me or do other bloggers get bored with their templates easily? I must say though that I kinda like this one so it will probably stick around for a while.

Did a class on Friday night with the wonderful Lynette Caroll. I haven't completed it yet but when I do I will be sure to show you. We used all Kaisercraft products and it looks fabulous.

Emma and I are off to Brisbane tomorrow for the rest of the week. She has her fourth round of chemotherapy. If all goes well this will be the second last treatment. I will know more after I have spoken to the Oncologist tomorrow and then I can fill everyone in. Emma sleeps most of the day after her chemo so I think that this time I will take my crocheting up with me. At least I will have something to do while she snoozes.

Anyway, must go and get packed as we have an early start.

Movie World TV Commercial

Emma has to be up bright and early tomorrow as she is taking part in the filming of the new TV ads for Movie World and Wet and Wild. We have to be at Movie World by 6.30am which means a very early start for the Love family. She is terribly excited as she gets to go on the thrill rides........First time she has been allowed since she had her big surgery in September last year.

She also had her districts today and did a great job in the long jump but you could see that she had absolutely no energy from the way she ran. She came about 6th which was a fantastic effort. Her jump was 3.33 metres. Next year when she is well she will be back to kick butt. As they say, third times a charm.

Only 16 more sleeps until they announce the new Kaisercraft Design Team (not that I am counting or anything lol) I will be on my way up to the papercraft convention in Brisbane on the day of the announcement so will not be able to check their website every five minutes. Probably a good thing.

This adorable little girl is jetting her way to my house right as I type. She is Mod Molly and I haven't yet decided what her name will be. She is so beautiful and I love the richness of her hair. Hopefully she should be in my hands tomorrow......

I scrapped again last night too. I grabbed some of the new Kaisercraft paper and threw together a layout of Emma with her bald head. She complained to me yesterday that I had not scrapped any "bald" photos of her so I rectified that problem last night.

Emma has her districts Athletics tomorrow and will be representing Hillcrest Christian College in the 11yr girls long jump, good luck little chicken legs. Thursday will be busy for her too as she is going to be in the new Sea World TV ad with her cousin Brittany and a few other people. She thinks it is going to be heaps of fun but I in reality she will probably be bored to tears. I will post a video of the ad up on my blog when I can get a hold of a copy.

Yes I scrapped!!!! I seem to have been so busy lately yet don't appear to have anything to show for it. I guess sometimes life is just busy at times.

Em had bloods done today and her Neutrophills are at rock bottom which means she cannot go to school until they go up again.

I sat in my room and scrapped last night. Loved it. It is the Kaisercraft 2011 Diary. Yeah I know this should have been done before the year started but I am a bit behind........

Now the next bit of news is that an amazingly talented woman I know is starting an online bi-monthly crafty lifestyle magazine. see post below:

I have added a cute little ticker on my blog regarding the Kaisercraft DT Announcement. 22 days and counting. Don't know if I can wait that long. I have my fingers, toes and eyes crossed that I will be one of the golden 12 to make it through.

Emma is doing really well again this week. She had her athletics carnival Tuesday and Wednesday and made it through to districts for her long jump. Was totally exhausted when it came to the running events but still made it into the finals for her 100 and 200 metre sprints. She is such a tough little cookie. She will have districts next week and I am hoping that her bloods pick up a bit by then so she can perform at her best.

Stuart and I took the children to the school musical last night which was Fiddler on the Roof. It was amazing and the whole production was so well put together. A credit to Hillcrest Christian College. Emma was one of the main dancers but seeing as she was not able to commit 100% to rehersals we thought it best for her to pull out. Besides there is always next years musical.

Have been pretty slack with my camera of late. Cannot remember the last time I pulled it out to take photos of the kids. Not good really considering how fast they grow up.

Stuart's mother is having the kids for the night on Saturday and we are going out for dinner, then Sunday morning we are going on an MX-5 club run out to Sirromet wines for lunch. Hopefully it will be a lovely day as there is no point having a convertible if you cannot drive it around with the roof off. I will definately take the camera for that.

Well I don't believe that I have much more to say, going to a crocheting class tomorrow night. I can't believe that I have forgotten how to crochet!!!!!! I will be back into it in no time.

Cannot believe that my little girl (aged 23) and her girlfriend have jetted of on a 5 week European trip. I just received a text from her and she said that it is very very very cold in London. It is 9.30am and they are just heading out for a day of exploring and sight seeing. I am so happy that she is doing all of this while she is young enough to enjoy it.

Have been busy this weekend scrapping my bum off for the 2nd round of the Kaisercraft DT. I have made three layouts and 1 off the page item. The amount of stuff that Kaisercraft sent was amazing and it was so fun to play with the new ranges. I don't know what my chances are up against some of the other talented ladies but I am really praying that I will be one of the 12 to make the final cut.

Emma decided that she was going to cook dinner last night and it was lovely. She made a beef soy stir fry - yummo. She is really enjoying her cooking. This afternoon she made a cola cake. Yep you guessed it, it has a cup of coke in it. I will have to tell you how it is in my next post. I don't really want any but I think as a mum I will have to try a wee little piece.

Anyway must go and get the dinner on. If I don't feed the crew they get all feral on me...... Especially the big one they call dad....

More Kaisercraft and Blythe

Why hello there people. I have been busy scrapping and working and looking after my adorable little family. It has just started getting cold her this past week. I think the temp only reached about 15 degrees celcius today which is a tad chilly.

I completed an awesome sized set of Kaisercraft drawers yesterday. They are going to be so useful and the perfect size to sit on my desk.

One of the layouts that I completed for the Kaisercraft DT application has already been picked up for publication. Yah......... and speaking of Kaisercraft, I received my parcel for round 2 of the DT application and can I just say that I am so excited with what has arrived. The box was so full of yumminess. Can't wait to start playing with it.

Emma's new Blythe arrived today. Her name is Charlotte or Charli for short. She is so cute.

Happy Mothers Day

It has been a long week.....

Emma was due to start her chemo on Tuesday but her oncologist refused to treat her until she went to the Mater Hospital and got a holter monitor on. The holter monitor records her heart acitivity for a 24 hour period. The reason she needs this done is because one of the chemo'sshe is on can be damaging to the heart and this needs to be monitored closely. She aslo had her MRI which came back positive. It looks as though the tumour has shrunk by about 50% - Thank you God.

We eventually started her chemo on Wednesday and finished today. She was such a brave little trouper again but it is really starting to get her down. I can understand that she is totally over it but she just needs to hang in for 2 more cycles.

Her oncologist told her that she could get plans underway for her Make a Wish holiday. We are going to LA for a week. Excitement plus. I should start buying some american money seeing as it is good value at the moment.

Anyway I have had a lovely Mother's Day, sleep in the afternoon (much needed) and then we went up the road to the local Thai restaurant. But now it is time for me to hit the sack and get some shut eye.

Oh my goodness, I am floating on cloud nine today as I have just heard that I made the finalists list for the Kaisercraft Design Team. Am so excited and cannot wait to see what the next round entails. Yah I love a good challenge and I love Kaisercraft products.
I have my fingers, legs, toes and eyes crossed that I get through hehehehe. One can only hope and pray.

Emma and I are still up in Brisbane. Her chemotherapy was delayed for two days while they checked her heart issues and did an MRO. All things appear to be ok so the chemo went ahead this morning. She has it again Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Home for Mothers Day dinner.

On the way home from shopping yesterday, Emma and I saw this unusual rainbow. The colours were so beautiful and vibrant but there was only a tiny bit of rainbow to see. It did not really appear to have a beginning or and end. The photo definitely does not do the colours any justice.

Anyway just a quickie today. Have to get busy cooking and packing tomorrow as we head off to the hospital for our monthly chemo on Tuesday and won't return until Saturday. I will be taking my computer though so will hopefully get a blog post done while there.

Chemo and Email Message and Make a Wish

Well only 5 more sleeps and we start round 3 of Emma's Chemotherapy. I cannot believe how quickly this month has gone. I think it was because we had school holidays in between.

We had a lovely Easter however we did not get to go out as Emma was neutropenic (low white cell and neutrophil count) Basically this means that her immune system is not functioning normally and if there was any sickness around then she would have a high chance of catching it.

Tuesday night we went to a special evening thanks to Make a Wish foundation and the Hard Rock Cafe in Surfers. Hard Rock put on an awesome night for the Make a Wish families it was soo much fun.

Today I received an email message from an amazing young girl from Victoria. I won't say too much yet as I will wait and tell you the whole story upon completion. Lets just say that I think this girl is an angel sent to us from above. Such an amazing young woman who any parent would be incredibly proud of. You know who you are. xxxxxxxxxoooooooooooooxxxxxxxxxx
Take 5 magazine phoned us yesterday and they want to do a story on Emma and her ever growing sticker collection. Apparently they saw the article in the Gold Coast Bulletin. Can I just say again that I am so gobsmacked that we, an ordinary old family from the Gold Coast are getting so much publicity. We have never done anything special we just have a sick little girl. We are incredibly blessed though as it could be a lot worse that it is. Emma is so strong and will get through this even stronger. She is going to be an amazing woman one day. One who I will proudly say "see her, she's my little girl"

She Scraps

Hope everyone reading this has had a fantastic Easter. We have had a wonderful time and the weather has been very kind to us these school holidays. I am really looking forward to Wednesday though as it is back to school day. Emma will only be there for the first week because the following Monday is a public holiday and then she is off for her chemo. She has had so much time off school already this year. Thank goodness she is quite smart and is not behind in anything.

I have had time to scrap this break which has been fun. I made this frame for Emma's room but guess what - She doesn't like pink (if only i knew hehehe) Guess it will have to go in my craft room..... It is made using only Kaisercraft products. love the frame it is a fantastic size.

Sea World, Miley Cyrus and Bandana Day

What a busy week we have had or it feels like it anyway.

Emma and I have been really sick with this blasted flu that is going around. Neither of us are feeling 100% yet. Hopefully we are now on the mend though.

Emma has had a fun week as her cousin came and had a sleep over and they ended up turning her room into a bit tent. There were sheets clipped up everywhere. So cute and they were both so good.

Daddy took her to Sea World yesterday, I couldn't go as I was in bed feeling miserable all day (oh woe is me) They had a fantastic time and never got home until 6pm. The weather was perfect too which made it so much better. Nothing worse than going to an amusement park on a crappy day.

We also surprised her with tickets to see Miley Cyrus in June. She is so excited and just cannot wait. Her initial wish through Make a Wish was to meet Miley but she then changed it to wanting to go to Disneyland. I would much rather Disneyland as I have always wanted to check out Los Angeles.

Haven't done alot of scrapping this week due to the sickness but will attempt to do some on the weekend.

Tonight Emma had a surprise visit from a friend who brought over a big basket filled with stickers, Blythe clothes and loads of lollipops and Easter eggs. She was so happy. As you can see below the clothes for her Blythe's are beautiful.

Hopefully my Blythe will be arriving soon. I just couldn't help myself and just had to buy one. I will probably get in trouble but I really did need her (hehehehe)

~~I am not sure what I will call her although I do like the names Willow, Clover, Saffron or Sage. Mmmm which one do I chose. Who do you think she looks like?~~

Have decided to call her Willow, suits her for some reason.

The local Kaisercraft store in Robina put on Bandanna Day for us on Saturday to make bandanna's for the children at the Royal Childrens Hospital in Brisbane. I am pleased to say that we managed to make 57 bandannas. Emma and her cousin Brittany made so many it was fantabulous. Thank you Kaisercraft for doing this for us and thank you very much to those that turned up to help. If you missed out on this one then there will be another day sometime in May. Will let you know when I know.

Emma was so excited as she was interviewed on Sunday for an article that appeared in today's local paper. She told everyone that would listen that she was going to be famous...... She is such a crazy kid.

I am outta here as I am still not well. Came down with a nasty cold over the weekend and it is still knocking me around a bit. Give me a couple of days and I will be as right as rain.

Home again

Yah we are home again. Not going back until the 3rd of May. We are hoping that this month is all smooth sailing for her and that she does not end up back in hospital. She was given the option of having a little port put into her leg to give herself injections to help build the white cells back up but as you could imagine she turned them down. If she gets through this month without any fevers or hospital stays then she doesn't have to have it but is she has any fever etc then she will be having regardless of if she wants it or not.

The steroids she is on makes her so temperamental and hungry all the time. I keep feeding her but I just cannot keep up with her. Last night she said that all she wanted were Basil Prawns. Yeah right where on earth was I going to find Basil Prawns where we were staying.... I promised her that I would take her out for dinner once she was feeling better.

Anyway I have to go as I have come down with a horrible cold and really feel like crap. It was Emma that gave it to me but now I have to be really careful that I don't spread the germs back to her. Cannot wait for this chemo to be all over and done with.

Chemo Round 2

Round 2 of chemo begins tomorrow. Stuart is taking her up as she has an 8.30am appointment and will have to leave very early. I will stay here and get Jacob off to school then head on up after that.

Emma and I will be staying at a place called Leonard Lodge and will go over to the hospital each morning for her chemo. If all goes well we will come straight home after her treatment Saturday and if not then we will stay for the extra night. I am guessing that she will be fine to travel as she will be pumped full of the anti nausea medication.

Am praying that it is a relatively quite stay with no dramas.

Have been doing a little scrapping the past few days too, I really had the urge to scrap so scrap I did. I managed to get 6 layouts, 2 beyond the page and 4 cards done since Friday. I can only show you a couple of things as the rest are for Mad about Scrappin and cannot be shown yet.

Well there you have it, my scrapping. As I said I have more but not just yet.

Found out this week that a beautiful friend and her equally beautiful family are leaving the Gold Coast for a few years to move up North. I don't get to see her much but it is has always been nice to know that if I ever need her then she was not far away. Now she is going to be miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiles away.
We will miss you Mel but thankfully for Facebook and email you will always be contactable.

My niece came over Saturday to stay the night with Emma and on Sunday they were very quite which is not always a good thing. Well the photos below will explain why the quiteness. As you can see my niece has decorated Emmas head with Kaisercraft droplets and a few other things. Very cute girls lol. I couldn't help laughing when I saw this. Emma thought is was hilarious.. Girls - what can you do with them hehehehe

To say that Emma has received some male lately would me the biggest understatement ever. Lets just say that we have received approximately 140 parcels to date. I am just incredible gobsmacked at the amazing generosity of so many people. Not only has she got stickers but also Blythe clothes (think her dolls have more clothes than me now), beanies, bandanna's, books, toys and everything else. I have taken a couple of photos of the cards and things she got.

She has been so blessed.

Last week we ended up spending 4 days in hospital. Emma got a high temp and her mouth was full of ulcers. They had to keep her in to make sure she didn't have an infection. During the hospital stay her beautiful hair started falling out. This was so devastating for her as I guess it would be for anyone. She is fine about it now though which is great.

We were released on Friday afternoon and on Saturday Emma went to the hairdressers and had the remainder of her hair clipped off. She did not like the patchy look......

Jacob headed off to his Social Skills group on Tuesday and they were lucky enough to have a visit form Matty Rogers and his family. Matty started a charity called 4ASDKids which helps ASD children. 4ASDKids donated $8000 towards Gold Coast Autism. THANK YOU....

Well I have nothing more to share. Thinks are going well in the Love household at the moment. Emma heads off to Brisbane again on Wednesday for her next 4 lots of chemo. She is not really looking forward to it but it has to be done.

I am off now as I have lots to do, Have some great layouts that are being sold as kits at Mad about Scrappin. You will have to wait for those though as I haven't quite finished them. We still have 60+ thank you's to write, Emma tells me what to write then I type them up for her. She did start handwriting them but she received so much stuff that her hand was getting sore and it was taking forever.

What a week

I cannot believe that it has only been just over one week since Emma had her chemotherapy. Feels like forever.
She has had a fabulous week. No feeling sick or anything and she has even been going to school. Don't know how long that will last but it is a good start. I think the fact that she has been receiving parcels everyday has been a huge help.

Our family cannot believe the generosity of total strangers. It is amazing and proves to me that there is still hope in this world. So far she has received millions of awesome stickers, a butterfly quilt, blanket, 3 beautiful amazing outfits for her Blythe dolls. Yep notice I said Blythe dolls. The Blythe that she ordered arrived the other day so she now has two. I am starting to think that these dolls are so adorable that I may need to purchase myself one......

This weeks has gone so slow. Not much has really been happening here other than loads of mail arriving. Work is going well although we can always use more students.

I would just like to say a very HUGE thank you to Melissa Goodsell for her "stickers for Emma" blog post.

I have just been blown away with all the beautiful comments, offers of help and prayers that are coming to us from all over the world.

Emma is beside herself with excitement which is fantastic to see. We don't get enough smiles from her these days so this will be good for her.

To all those wonderfully generous people out there we say Thank you. Emma said that she will write each and every one of you a thank you note. They may take a while as sometimes she is just too tired but believe me she will do it.

Chemo time.........

We arrived up at the Hospital bright and early Monday morning for Emma to be admitted and also to have her bloods done and get her Chemotherapy.

we waited, and waited and waited and waited.........

They finally called her up and took her to the treatment room where they put the needle into her port o cath ready for her chemo.

We saw the Doctor who explained a little about the chemicals that she was to get, Doxorubicin (can cause serious heart damage - great) and the other one is Dacarbazine. Both of these chemicals list hair loss as one of the most common side effects.

We went back out into the waiting room to be called for her treatment and admission, it was taking forever so they told us to come back at one. We took this opportunity to head down to the playground where Emma got to meet up with some long lost relatives (hehehehe)

Finally at 3pm we were taken through to the chemo area where she was hooked up and pumped full of toxic chemicals - poor baby. The chemotherapy only took about 45 minutes to be administered but then we had to wait until 6.15pm before they took us up to her ward. She wasn't a very happy little chickadee by that stage and the vomiting had begun. She was so ill that she pulled a muscle in her side. The vomiting lasted for the first and second treatment but by the third they had the right mix of anti nausea meds sorted (thank God)'

We did manage to put a smile on her face at one stage when we gave her a pressie........

Please meet Faith (aka Raspberry Sorbet) Emma has been wanting a Blythe Doll for so long so I couldn't resist getting this for her. She purchased herself one the other day too so that should arrive next week.

We went up to our ward where we met a little girl (Charlice) and her mummy who were getting their chemo downstairs the same time as us. The girls didn't take long to strike up a friendship and start playing. Was a great distraction for them both. Little Charlice has some groovy wigs and she let Emma try one on. Not sure if brunette suits her lol (see below)

The photos are not the best as I only had my iPhone. She looks kinda funny looking with dark hair.... She now wants me to take her to spotlight this weekend to buy a few cheap play wigs. She said she will wear them around the house when her hair falls out. We are going to get it cut into a short bob this weekend as well. She looks so sweet with a bob.

Anyway things are going pretty well for us. We have a total of five months with this treatment so still have a long way to go. Emma is being very strong but it as a mummy it is so heartbreaking.

Will keep you updated on her progress.

Oh this weekend if anyone is interested I am teaching a class at Kaisercraft (Robina store) Lots of inking, painting and distressing, make sure you wear an old shirt or bring an apron....

Chemotherapy

Well we have news that the first lot of chemotherapy that Em has been receiving has not done a thing and it actual fact the tumour has grown. Her oncologist has decided that he is going to change her chemo to a stronger one and really dose her up on it so on Monday we will make the trek up to the Royal Children's Hospital where we will be guests for three nights while they administer it. She will given two doses each day for 4 consecutive days and then repeat this process every month for goodness knows how long.

I am just hoping and praying that this one will work.

There is a good chance that she will lose her hair and also become quite ill with this lot so am also praying that she gets through it ok.

Hospital sleepover and layouts

Yesterday Emma decided to spike a high temp which for a normal person wouldn't be too much of a worry but for Emma being on Chemotherapy and all meant that we had to take her to hospital. We headed on over late in the afternoon and ended up sleeping the night just so they could do her bloods and a few x rays. She is fine but they just have to take extra care just in case she has an infection. Having very few white cells means that if she was to get sick then her body would not fight it as ours would.

Emma slept well all night but man my bed was awful. I tossed and turned all night and my fold out bed was so noisy (squeaky) every time I moved Emma would stir a little.... Nice to be home now though.

I had scrapped a few layouts a while ago for Mad about Scrapping and though I had better share them.

I do have another few things to share with you but you will have to wait until I photograph them.

Ok well I have to go and get ready to go collect Jacob from school. I cannot wait to get into bed tonight.... My sweet sweet soft comfy bed ahhhhh heaven

SURPRISE

Emma came home to a lovely surprise today. The ever gorgeous Julie Tucker Wolek sent Emma an amazing parcel all the way from Phoenix, Arizona. She was beside herself with excitement. The parcel was filled with beautiful papers and envelopes for her to write to her penpals.

When Julie said she was going to send Emma a little something I certainly wasn't expecting the huge parcel that arrived. Julie we thank you from the bottom of our hearts, you are truly an angel and we love you

Emma was not looking forward to having her Chemotherapy yesterday as it was Valentines Day and she said that it should be a happy day. Well not having chemo was never an option so she just had to deal with it. Her chemo ended up not being as bad as she thought though as there was a surprise waiting for her from my sister and niece..................................

She just had to ring Linda and Katelyn up straight away to say thank you

Raspberry Sorbet

I can't believe that I finally ordered a Blythe doll. Emma is going to be so excited when she gets her. She is so pretty.

Last week while Emma and I were driving we found a large timber doll house sitting on the side of the road waiting for council pick up, lets just say the council didn't get this one :-)

We popped it in the boot of my car and it is now sitting in the garage waiting to be transformed. There is a little bit of work that needs to be done to bring it back to looking good but that will be our project for the next few weekends.

Cannot wait to share it with you.

Cyclone Yasi

We are all praying for our fellow Queenslanders affected by the oncoming cyclone.

Cyclone Yasi has been upgraded to a category 5 which is just insane......The worst Australia has seen since 1918........ Our poor old State has been copping a real bashing lately. Mother Nature, whatever it is we have done then believe us when we say we are extremely sorry.........:-(

For those of you who don't know what a cyclone is then another word for it would be Hurricane or Typhoon. You can click on the link below to look at Cyclone Yasi. 4th Chemotherapy

The 4th Chemo went brilliantly. Daddy took her and she was absolutely perfect. There were no tears or anything. She was so brave.

Exciting News

Ok peeps, you know how I told you that I had some exciting news to share.......

well...........

I am now officially a DT Member for "These are a few of my Favourite things". A challenge blog that I have been stalking for ever...... Go on, check it out.........you know you want to. Check out all the links for the other ladies on the DT too as they are awesome.........

I have my first assignment already so need to put my head down and bum up.........

Have had a special visitor this week. My birth sister Linda whom I haven't seen for about 13 years was up on holidays and we managed to catch up. I was adopted as a baby and had met Linda twice before but this time was different. I also got to meet my amazingly beautiful niece Katelyn. Emma is totally in love with her new big cousin and cannot wait to see her again. I suggested to Katelyn that she come and spend a week with us during her next school holidays.

That is about all I have to share with you at the moment. Emma is having her 4th chemo tomorrow but this time daddy is taking her. It will be good to have a break from it.
She is then going to Brisbane on the 4th to see the maxillofacial surgeon for a follow up and then back up again on the Monday to see her oncologist. It is a pain having to go to Brissie all the time but not much can be done when all her specialists and the hospital are up there...... oh well.

Yah I have scrapped.....

This cute little bear was sent up to Emma from two beautiful people in Canberra (thanks Rach and Zara). Two very amazing caring loving friends. Miss Lila (the bear) has become special to Emma and now takes pride of place on her bed along with her fave doll Ally. I created this layout using the sketch from Kaisercraft, hope you like it

Jacob, Emma and I headed down to Pacific Fair today to meet my birth sister (Linda) who I have not seen in 13 years. We had a lovely time catching up. We shopped around for my niece's (Katelyn) formal dress and found the most amazing eye popping dress for her. She looked absolutely amazing with this dress on. It definitely had the WOW factor. Linda and her family are only up here for the week so we are going to go our for dinner one night while they are here.

Emma is doing well. She has not lost any hair yet which is a blessing. They told us that she may lose it all, or a small amount may fall our or even better that nothing will happen. We just have to wait and see. Her scars are looking fantastic now as a friend gave me some magic stuff form the burns unit and it brilliant. Her scars were looking like keloid ones and now they are almost flat and smooth again. Definitely magic stuff.

I have some very exciting news to share as well but I have to wait for a couple of days. It is pretty cool, well I think so anyway. I will be back in a few days to tell you what it is, until then - take care, stay safe and if you go out in the sun smother yourself in sunscreen.........

Chemo # 3

Number 3 today went really well. She was a little upset to begin with but settled down quickly. I am glad because I don't think I could have gone another week like last. She just gets so scared which is fully understandable. Her white blood cell count is getting low which means now that she has to be extra careful about washing her hands and sanitising etc. She is not allowed to swim in public pools or anyone else's pool for that matter. The nurse at the hospital will be visiting the school to speak with the staff and also to speak to Emma's class to explain to them what is happening etc. Great idea. She is soo looking forward to going back to school, I think she has been missing her maths lessons LOL. Yep my little girl is obsessed with maths and even goes to bed with a maths activity book........ Whatever happened to nice story books like Alice in Wonderland or the Famous 5????? Oh well, each to their own.

Work has been going great, we are getting more students each week. The government is offering free training for staff that meet certain criteria. Great way to gain a free qualification. AURORA TRAINING INSTITUTE

We had an awesome storm come through the other night. The thunder was fantastic and the rain was hard and furious but only lasted for about 30 minutes. Was great to watch and listen to though.

I have finally done a little scrapping lately. It is for my DT so I cannot show you it in full however I can show you some snippets.

Ok have housework to finish and then I need to go out shopping for our 23 year old. Have no idea what we are going to get her but I am sure I will find something.

Chemo #2 and the tragic Brisbane floods

Emma has her second round of chemo this morning. Well it was the most difficult emotional time of my life. Emma was so distraught that four of us had to hold her down to sedate her. She had got herself so worked up that she was clenching her fists and hitting herself in the head. It totally broke my heart, I cannot begin to describe the pain I felt and the emotions that were going around inside me, I didn't know weather to just fall to the floor with her and hold her or if I should get angry and yell at her I just pray to God that the next time she is a lot calmer. I just didn't know what to do so just stood there crying like a little baby...... She is fine now although still feels sad. She is normally so strong but I think that it all started last night knowing that we were going to a different hospital and would be seeing different medical staff. It could be worse though couldn't it and there are children and parents going through much more than what we are going through so we just have to take each day as it comes..........

How horrific are the floods in Brisbane at the moment. Luckily we are haven't had that much rain down here so we are all fine. We are all praying for those that have lost loved ones and most of their earthly possessions. It is just so sad to see what these people are going through.

Our beautiful city streets inundated with murky muddy water

The Brisbane river flowing so fast with all sorts of debris floating down it. So many fridges, deck chairs, boats, jet skis....... mind boggling to say the least

I went to the supermarket to get bread and milk this afternoon and got there to find that the two largest supermarkets at the Robina Town Shopping Centre has NO milk and NO bread. There were no potato's and only about three tomatoes. I have NEVER seen anything like it. So surreal......spooky even. With all the roads blocked all the trucks cannot get through with supplies. This flood is going to cost Queenslanders so much, but they breed us tough and we will get through it.

Have given up on the photo a day already (yes pretty slack I know) but I just couldn't be bothered. Was the last thing on my mind actually. Maybe I will give it a go next year or maybe just start with a photo a week project.....even better how bout we start a photo a month or year LOL I am sure I could complete that challenge easily.

Well I have run out of stuff to talk about but will be back soon with more to share.

Chemo #1 and photo of the day for 5th 6th and 7th

Emma had her port inserted yesterday and started her first chemo today.

This was the view from Emma's bed in hospital. The wards are all painted differently and the children love it

I just had to share this photo as well. This is Ally and Ally has been with us since Emma was 6 months old. Emma has dragged this baby around with her ever since she was about one. Wherever Emma goes, Ally goes too. Even now Ally makes the regular trips with us up to the hospital and has even got her own cannula ...

I love that Emma still loves her baby doll even though she is now 11.

Emma had her first chemo today and it went really well. She has not experienced much nausea yet which is a blessing. She said her tummy was a little queasy but nothing major. She is such a tough little cookie

Anyway I have to go as I got no sleep in the hospital last night so I am going to have a nice shower, make a yummy cup of tea and go to bed.

Day 4 of 365.......

Today is the 4th of January

My beautiful baby girl was born today at 1pm...... She was the cutest little thing and we all fell in love the minute we laid eyes on her. She is still the most beautiful little munchkin that I know and also the bravest.

my day 4 photo is Emma opening one of her pressies. The rest are just photos of the day.

We are off to Brisbane on Thursday as Emma is getting her port put in and starting her chemo on the following day.....

MRI Results

Results from MRI:

Tumour has grown back to almost 2/3 the original size in just 6 weeks. Surgery is not really an option at this point as it will probably only grow back again just as quick. We are off to see the oncologist on the 5th and she will probably get a port put in and then they will start chemo on the 6th. The first course is going to be for 3 months and then they will up the dose for the next 3 and so on for 12 months. If that doesn't work (it will anyway) then they will do radiation therapy. She has a long road ahead of her but she is tough and will get through it.

I have started doing the photo a day so here are my photos;

Day 1:

Decided to hit the sales and see what I could pick up.... Managed to get everyone else something but could not find anything for me

Day 2:

Boat full of goofballs - enjoying a late night dip during her sleepover.

Well I am in for a late night I believe as Emma is having a sleep over for her birthday tomorrow. The girls are so full of sweets and soda that I don't think they will be asleep at all. I let them go for a big swim a little while ago hoping that it would tire them out - ha how wrong was I.......

I cannot wait for Emma to wake up tomorrow morning. Stuart and I have bought her a little Pandora bracelet. Her girlfriend gave her a little present charm and I have got her a little black and white cow. Jacob wanted to get her a little crucifix so he did. Mishae gave her a beautiful little heart dangly one. She knows that she is getting the Pandora but nothing about the charms we have for her. I have told her that I will let her buy a small charm after every chemo session. She is to have the chemo once every three weeks.

Anyway there is quite at the moment so I am going to go and make a nice cup of tea and relax while I have the chance. I am supposed to be taking them out to Intencity tomorrow and then to the coffee shop for kiddy chinos. If they don't let me sleep though they won't be going....

New Years Eve

Can you believe that it is New Years Eve??? I can't

This year has gone so fast and has been a tough one for us, what with Emma having the tumours and the big surgeries that she has gone through. We were hoping that this year was going to be way better but it hasn't started that way. Emma is on her way to hospital now to get an MRI as they have found another tumour in her face and she is being admitted to hospital on the 5th January, just one day after her birthday. Not much of a birthday for her this year.

On a brighter note, we had a fabulous Christmas in Tea Gardens with Stuarts family. It was great to see the cousins all playing. They all get on so well and there are never any arguments. They are just amazing kids. Stuart's sister in law had her brother and family come over from the UK so that made the day even more special.

Santa was very nice to me this year as I got a beautiful ghd hair straightener...... No more daggy hair for this little chickie.

3 more sleeps

Can you believe that there are only 3 more sleeps until Santa comes? This year has been such a blur and has gone way too quick for my liking.

We had Emma up at the hospital on Monday as she has a lump on the side of her face. We managed to get an ultrasound done and then the surgeon came and spoke to us. We then had to go back on Tuesday for a fine needle aspiration of the area to find out what on earth it is. They don't believe that it could be tumour again although there is always the slight possibility that it is. They are leaning towards a haematoma which is what Stuart and I are hoping it is. Seeing as Emma has a needle phobia they decided to do the procedure in theatre. Emma was nervous as usual but she was so brave and walked into the theatre, popped herself up on the table and placed the mask over her face and held it there until she was asleep. The procedure took them about 30 minutes and they managed to get a good sample to send to pathology. The doctor that performed the procedure said that it was not solid which is what we were praying for. Now we just have to wait until about the 30th to get the results. I hate waiting especially for something like this.

We are heading down to Tea Gardens this year to spend Christmas with Stuarts brother and his family. I am hoping that the rain stays away for us but I am thinking that that is not really going to happen. We won't be seeing my brother and his family this year as they have jetted off to Koi Samui (sp?) for Christmas and the New Year.

Well I will leave you now and if I don't get back her before Christmas I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has been reading my blog and sending us all their prayers etc for Emma. I hope you all have the Merriest Christmas ever and remember that Jesus in the reason for the season. On that note I will leave you with photos of our past week.

WOWSERS

I cannot believe how fast December is going. I didn't realise that it had been so long since I had updated the good old blog (sorry mum)

Everything has been going along nicely for the Love Family for the past few weeks. Emma had her final visits to the surgeons who appear to be very happy with how everything is progressing. Although she did notice a lump on the left side of her face last night so I phoned her surgeon this morning how said to go to local gp and get a script for antibiotics incase there was slight bleeding under the skin. If it has not settled down by tomorrow afternoon then I am to make the trip up to the Royal Chilodrens Hospital again. I think by now my car could probably drive itself up there.

Business is going well, we just had news that we have managed to be on the NSW Government preferred supplier list which for a new RTO is just fantastic. This will enable us to make our marketing a little more wide spread.

We are all looking forward to Christmas and a well deserved break. Stuart has been flat out lately and it will be good to see him relax for a while. We are heading down to Tea Gardens/Port Stephens for a week to spend Christmas with the family and then on our way home we thought we may stop off in Coffs Harbour. I guess we will just see how we feel at the time.

Have been playing around with "Brine Design" digital scrapbooking and came up with the layouts above. It is so different scrapping digitally as opposed to traditional. Brine Design have some awesome stuff that really lends itself to being printed out so will be doing that very soon. I also have other stuff to share but it is for Mad about Scrapping so cannot be shown just yet. Mad about scrapping have just started a Facebook page too so make sure you head on over and like the page.

Anyway I do not have a lot more to tell. Emma and her girlfried are out in the pool at the moment so I think that it would be a good opportunity to get some photos.

Weather is crap!!!!

I cannot believe how much wet weather we have been having lately. It does not feel much like summer at the moment.

We are supposed to be going to the "White Christmas" at Movie World tonight with thanks to the Make-a-wish foundation bit if this rain keeps up then we definitely won't be going.

We have such a busy weekend, Movie World tonight, our Staff Christmas party tomorrow night, take time out for Tabatha Sunday and then Muse Sunday night. I am so tired just thinking about it all.

Emma is doing really well. She had her post op follow up on Wednesday and the surgeon is really impressed with how it is all looking. They said that she will not need any more surgery now for about 6 months. YAH. We have two more appointments up at the hospital and then that is it for the rest of the year.

This year for Christmas we are heading down to Tea Gardens to spend Christmas Day with the family.

Anyway I have to go and get some stuff organised so I will post more when I have something interesting to share, until then take care and stay safe.

Surgery Update

Emma's 3rd surgery went really well. The Maxilliofacial Surgeons worked on her this time repairing her jaw and mouth. The jaw had not seemed to heal since they cut it in half in September. They believe that the jaw exercises that speech pathology had her doing was the reason. No more jaw exercises much to Emmas happiness. They put a larger plate in the jaw and covered as much of it up with whatever skin they could find around the area. They did not have a lot to work with as a lot of it had died from last time. Lets hope that third time is lucky for the little munchkin and that they have got it right.

She is still going to need more surgery down the track but not for at least 6 months. YAH Praise God.

Stuart and the children took off this morning and wouldn't tell me where they were going or what they were doing. They arrived home about an hour later with an above ground vegie garden for me. It is nicely set up out in the back yard. Yah me I have been wanting to grow some of our own vegies for ages but just didn't have anywhere to do it. Now I do.

Anyway not a lot else to tell. Am busy sewing teachers presents at the moment so when I have completed them I will show you.

Sad face

Well it doesn't look like I will be winning anything over at Aussie Scrap Source, major bummer as I really wanted to win the Becky Flecks sketches 2 book. Haven't budgeted for it so unless by some miracle heaps of people vote the I guess I won't be getting it. (insert sad face here)

Emma is going back into surgery tomorrow as her jaw has not healed which means that there is an infection there. They are going to open her up and replace the two plates to larger ones and then scrap down the bone to remove any bugs. Ewww, sounds gross but at least this is only relatively small compared to her last surgery. As soon as all of this is healed then the dental surgery team can work their magic on her new teeth.

Emma had her presentation night at Hillcrest Christian College and I am so proud to say that even though she has missed loads of school because of her cancer, she still managed to take out an academic achievement award for year 5. How proud are her mummy and daddy............... I would love to have had photos to show but the ones that I took were terrible.. Haven't got the hang of taking night time shots yet.

Love this one with showing the changes in Emma over the past 5 years. She has certainly grown up into such a strong young lady.
